Fall Colors for a weekend drive in the country!
Bright, peak foliage is making its way into the lower Hudson Valley and onto Long Island and is also arriving at its final destinations in the Finger Lakes region, according to field observers for Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program.
Most of New Jersey and Pennsylvania are at peak or past peak but still beautiful colors can be seen.
Bright, beautiful foliage will blanket much of the Hudson Valley this weekend, particularly in the southern portion. In Rockland County, look for peak conditions and nearly complete color transition with brilliant orange and red leaves predominating. Westchester County is expecting to be near-peak to peak this weekend, with up to 75 percent color change and a spectacular display of deep orange, gold and red leaves. Foliage will be in top form for an autumn stroll on the new Walkway over the Hudson between Poughkeepsie and Highland as bright peak leaves cover Dutchess County from Poughkeepsie south. There are also great colors still to be seen in the northern portions of the county. Foliage spotters in Goshen, in Orange County, predict beautiful foliage just past peak this weekend. Look for bright red, gold, yellow, orange, peach and scarlet leaves throughout the county.
Over the past week, color change has rapidly accelerated on Long Island and in New York City. Look for peak colors throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. Spotters in western Suffolk County and Nassau County expect up to 90 percent color change with red, orange, purple and many yellow leaves of average brilliance. In New York City, observers based in Crown Heights and SoHo are predicting near peak foliage with 55 percent or more color change and bright, brilliant shades of yellow and orange predominating, along with some touches of red and purple.

Happy Halloween to busy Mom’s and Dad’s creating scary menus and even scarier costumes so kids can have fun at parties and parades tomorrow! Like the rest of you we have an eye on the weather and hope the rain stays away.
Pumpkins have been carved and pies baked and Jen’s girls are as excited as yours about the day ahead. Still nursing her terrible cold Jennifer has a secret costume to reveal tomorrow, we are just hoping it includes a warm coat!
