Summer is your time to play. Your family loves the seaside, the feel of sand between their toes? You have a special place where your family comes together to relax by the ocean? Join us for a Summer portrait session at the New Jersey Shore or in the Hamptons.
Mac Hartshorn is based at Bay Head during the summer and will travel to your beach house or favorite stretch of sand along the Jersey Shore and Long Beach Island . Mac will also travel, by appointment, to locations in the Hamptons during August. Please call to schedule an exclusive on-location shoot at other times of the year.
- Two sessions only per day. 7am or 6pm

- Start from your beach house or meet on the sand.
- Simple summer clothing in soft colors and neutrals.
- Children upwards of two years of age
Beach photo sessions are scheduled for two hours and take place early each day before the sun gets too bright or after five o’clock when the sun starts to drop in the sky. We aim to catch your family amidst that golden morning glow or the rosy evening light on empty sands. Getting the family out of bed early or keeping them up a little later is worth the effort when you see the rich glowing results.
What to wear and what to bring to your Beach shoot :
- Co-ordination is cool, matching is not.
- Keep clothing simple, soft pastel tones mixed with neturals, white, denim, khaki work well.
- Girls and Mom’s in summer dresses, baring arms, legs, throat and shoulders look great.
- Boys and Dad’s in shorts, polos, buttondown shirts, khakis, jeans, etc. Remember to keep shirt patterns subtle in soft tones.
- Bright colors, bold patterns, prints on tee shirts, black or dark colors do not work well at the beach and tend to dominate the final pictures.
- Leave costume jewelry at home, along with your shoes.
- Natural makeup and hair.
- Sun block for all.
- Moisturize hands and feet, check nails are trimmed.
- Bring water for rehydrating between shots.
