What a lovely surprise last week…more snow!
We snuck out of Hoboken on Thursday night with friends under the cover of darkness, hoping to get to our destination before the snow got too heavy.
As luck would have it, school was cancelled for the following day….. yet another Snow Day!!….so we had a three day weekend skiing!
Dear friends of ours lent us their lakehouse in the Poconos. Tucked into the woods beside a babbling stream, its the perfect weekend retreat….divine….but with so much snow falling overnight, we awoke to find our car snowed in, hard and fast, like a great snow sculpture stuck in the middle of the driveway!.
It was an hilarious sight….. We only had kids sand shovels left in the car from the summer to do the job. After 30 minutes of shoveling and burning rubber Mac realized our trusty minivan was not going to budge. Like mana from heaven the local police truck came by. We flagged down the vehicle and suggested that the handsome officers help us move our stubborn vehicle. Sadly even adding two strong policemen to the task was not enough to get us out of this fix!
As luck would have it a truck with a snow plough was the next unsuspecting individual to drive past our drama. After lengthy financial negotiation he agreed to plough the drive. Success followed and we piled in the van heading for Camelback ski resort . The kids however were now soaked and exhausted from playing in the snow and not quite so enthusiastic about skiing as we were. But what a fabulous day we all had once dried off; it was, clear, sunny and lots of powder, worth all the early morning hijinks!
Thoroughly spoilt by great weather and snow we ended each day with a scrumptious sumptuous meal cooked by no other than our friend Anthony Pino of Bin 14 and Anthony Davids.(It sure pays to take trips with a friend who happens to be a great chef!)
The girls and I improve at skiing every day but Mac is the master at snowboarding, leaving us in behind in a flying cloud of powder!

We love our local playgrounds and parks, the kids love them even more. Our girls, Madeline and Cameron, grew up swinging and sliding in Church Square Park. We hope hundreds more children will do the same, so we are supporting the renovation of Church Square Park Playground. A portion of your session fee will be donated, in your name, to this great fundraiser.
